Default Gave up on autoreturn, new issue with IPN

Hi Alexandr,

I decided to just forego using autoreturn as I had detailed in an earlier post, but I am seeing a new issue when trying to use IPN.

With IPN enabled in both Paypal and my site, when doing a live test transaction all appears to be working correctly up to my return to the site from paypal.

I looked at the source code for the paypal confirmation page, and the return url form element has the correct value. On hitting the return button on the paypal confirmation page ( using FireFox ) a dialogue box opens prompting me to download and save " paypal_return.php " from the site.

When I looked at payments history in the admin, 2 new record changes appeared - one new record with no transaction ID or price, and region 0 ( deleted ) notation. In addition, my previous "bad" record ( I have many at this point ) is overwritten with the good transaction info. End result, one insert of a bad transaction, one update of previously bad transaction to good transaction.

I had a friend also try a purchase using Internet Explorer - rather than the download prompt, she got a 404 error.

While testing, I tried shutting off IPN ... in that case the return button does generate a valid page on the site, but it is a script-generated error page with the message " Payment ID not set " - I have seen other posts remarking on this same error message but to the best of my knowledge, none of the threads contain any possible fixes.

I do appreciate the amount of work you have put into this script and the fact that it is free. For this reason I had no qualms about purchasing a skin and some other scripts from you.

However, I am at my wit's end trying to get basic functionality from this script. I have tapped out my existing paypal balnce in trying live tests ( given my experience thus far I really don't want to add possible issues by trying to use the paypal sandbox ) and any suggestions you can give me would be a real life saver at this point.

Thanks,

John

which IE version you use for tests? - it is very strange to have different results in different browsers for payment procedure.

Yes, I see if you enable IPN and PayPal invoke script before you click return link you will see 'error page' - it is because transaction is finished. I will see what can do for this problem.
