I'm trying to customize the menu. I was wondering about a few things.
1) Anyway to make the man menu item not linkable? I try leaving <link></link> blank but if you click on the menu item it errors out.
2) Any way to nest a 3rd level submenu?
Thanks for the nice menu app!

It would also be really nice if when you clicked on the menu item it dropped down the submenu list. The arrow is so small and not intuitive for my users. Thanks!

I've added an 11th item to the top menu and set item 1 as selected. Item 11 is also showing as selected. Any ideas?

Ok I've worked around most things, but one issue I can't figure out. Everytime I click on the button or menu item, it opens the link in a new window. It's not useable like that. Anyway to prevent it? Thanks!

Hi!
If you need to make an item not clickable then you simply need to specify it as the selected element, although you seem to have found the solution for this.
The menu items are links themselves, so any posibility of clicking them to bring up the submenu was excluded from the start. That is the arrows' purpose.
I will check out the last issue

Hi jteam,
Thanks for your response.
My current issues:
1) Subitems always open in new window. I changed all the targets to _self. But all the subitems still open in a new window. Like it's being overridden.
2) Arrow to open submenu too small or would prefer the whole bar to
open up the submenu. Most of my visitors aren't that computer savvy. They don't notice the arrow. This is a problem as they will miss quite a bit of content.
3) After you click on a subitem, you can no longer click on any other
subitem in that menu. The submenu disappears as soon as you mouse over it..
4) Limited to 10 main menu items. If you put in a number of 11 or more, both 1 and 11 menu item will show 'selected'.
My test menu is here:

#4 I can work around. Unfortunately I can't work around the first 3 issues.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Here is an example of the same style menu. They implemented it in the most userfriendly way where clicking on the menu bar opens the submenu. This actually looks quite interesting and a good alternative to flash.

Thank you very much jteam! #1 and #3 work great now. Only issue is #2. I am very concerned people will not navigate to the submenu because it is so hard to click on, they don't even know it's there.
Is there anyway to either:
1) Make the whole right side of the bar bring up the submenu, or
2) Make the whole bar bring up the submenu (my preference).
Thanks again!

I'll take some time tomorow to modify the menu in order to meet your preferences.
We'll call it version 1.1 :)

Jteam,
Thanks, I have updated my whole website to use your flash menu. Your fixes work great! Thank you very much!
Couple things to consider for future versions:
1) How to use 'selected" feature. Whatever menu item I put as 'selected' in the xml file, is always selected, no matter what page I'm on. So I don't know how to use it. For now, my workaround is, I set selected to 0 and nothing is selected.
2) You might want to have the option in the xml file to have the menu item clickable or bring up submenu. That way, a menu item like "home" does not need a submenu. For now, I workaround by having a submenu for hom.
Again, thanks so much for the flash menu, I really like it!

Hello jteam,
FYI, I just discovered that the limitation of 10 menu items apparently also applies to the subitems. Subitem 11 will use item 1 link and subitem 12 will use item 2 link, and so on.

FYI Here is the website using your menu component. I also have a flash ticker (not sure if that's yours too) on the top. However, you don't see it unless you mouse over it at least once.
Thanks again! Please let me know if you ever update with the changes in the above posts.

You need to get the updated version. Send a pm to jteam or g8z because I don't think the newest version is up yet.

Hi Babushka,
Please note that the ticker applet doesn't show the first time you load on the site because there might be an error when you inserted it into the html page.
A simple working sample can be added using this html code with the provided applet files. Please save this code in your index.html.

Thanks so much! I will give it a try.
Although I am redesigning the site and will probably use a different ticker for the home page. But may still use this one on a different page.
Thanks again.

Look at the index.html file in the menu folder for example code. Basically you can paste the code in the object tag into your page (making sure that the menu folder location and config file names match your setup) and that should be all there is to it (other than editing the config file to configure your menu).

Was a fix ever made to the submenu items so that the top level menu was not clickable? or better yet clicking the top menu item would open the submenu? I would dearly like this fix if it were ever made.
