Changing paths

I would like to install the ticker app in the folder /ticker/ but when I do all I see is a blank screen.

How do I set it up that I can change the installed path?

In playing around, I can set up everything in the subfolder /ticker/ but it needs to have the config.xml file in in the root directory.

How do I change that - can I?
