OK - well this is the second time i have put this on here. My first one was deleted. PLEASE DONT DELETE THIS ONE!

I paid a coder to make me a recuring paypal script. I tested it out on my test server and it worked perfectly - created monthly subscription and updated the membership level. It works perfect.

I the tested it on my live server and it works perfect on there too

I am not prepared to give this mod away though, as i had to pay for it myself.

If anyone wants it - its $20 but i'm afraid i cant offer any support for it or guarentees ! - although i will help if i can !

PM me if you are interested.

Has anyone tried this with v2.0?

Has anyone tried this with v2.0?

I've tried it on 2.0.3 on my site. It turns out it doesn't work for what I would need it to do, but I did verify the best I could that it does work just fine. I implemented it on my site, and tested it to the point of getting to PayPal to pay...and PayPal does show "$xx.xx each month" which means PayPal is going to setup a recurring payment. I also tested to make sure that when choosing no payment method with a paid membership upgrade, it doesn't let the user proceed...and that works as well. I also tested clicking various things to make sure nothing triggered code errors or DB errors, and that looked fine as well.

So, I can attest to Patch's PayPal recurring payment mod working just fine...as far as I could tell.

If you have your memberships options setup for free or paid monthly, I think it's a great mod to implement, that can make your site more profitable, without having to do much manually. I have my site setup for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or yearly payments currently...so for me, it would require a bit more of a modification...which I didn't have the time to do at the moment. However, as I mentioned to Patch...I plan on getting to this later, and I think it'll work great with a few if statements based on the plan type (you should be able to fairly easily copy/paste parts of his code after if statements to charge for different periods...quarterly, annually, etc., based on the selection on the membership upgrade screen).

Great mod Patch!

what way this mod is different than the already inbuilt paypal and other pay option in main osdate? or u mean to say, it is auto recurring payment, so it is good?

patchadams
07-14-2007, 07:24 AM
it sets up an auto recuring monthly payment using the members paypal account.

just tried this on osdate 2.04 and it seemed to work fine

via paypal

Just to clarify this, a user wouldn't be able to cancel the recurring membership from a menu option in osDate? They would have to go to Paypal and stop the action themselves? Just wondering if osDate does the work or if the user has to do it manually in Paypal.

The user has to stop the recurring charge via PayPal, then you are notified by PayPal via e-mail, and you'd need to stop the on-going upgraded membership in osDate.

Sorry that it dont work for you - but i can assure you that it does work for loads of others - and again .... i make it CLEAR there are NO guarentee's.

It works on my site and many others - (see whole thread) - and i was just trying to share it with others. I paid for it and took the risk !

YOU ONLY GOT THE FILES 12 HOURS AGO - YOU HAVE HARDLY HAD THE TIME TO MAKE IT WORK - AND DOUBLE CHECK !

I wont be replying to any more of your comments - i have nothing to hide or defend.

GOOD - BYE !:p

It does not work for the latest version of osdate. There are obvious errors in the program. It does not work and you are charging money for it and I will continue to warn others about your scam whether you reply or not. I paid $20 for nothing.

Did you send bug report?
"Don't work" isn't bug report.

Describe in details what you did, what you expect and what you have.

Do not share your opinion if don't absolute sure.

Not that it's any of your concern how I was scammed out of $20 but here's your bug report:

It fails on line 10 of the payment php because the $db function is incorrect. Upon further review the $privileges function is spelled incorrectly in two different places in the file. By changing these I was able to at least get to the upgrade membership function but the input fields do not update correctly. It doesn't work. If you don't believe me then fork over $20 of your money and then you can give us a bug report.

This man is one nasty person. He bought the files and now opened a dispuute with paypal for a refund. Great way to get files for free - who's the real scammer here ?

I am not a coder so i dont know if the files have bugs, all i know that it works on my site (1.10) and version 2

I suggest you test the system thats running on my site and has been 4 a while.

I am one of the members that got this mod working on my site, which is version 2...not version 1. I've talked to a few others that had it working on their sites, most of which were using version 2 as well (I believe all but 1 were using version 2.x.x).

I'm sure it's running fine on version 1.1 but it doesn't work for the latest version. As for my disputing the paypal payment I don't think I'm the only person here that doesn't like to pay for nothing. The dispute was denied because unfortunately you can still make claims on a message board and defraud people of money and get away with it. My stupidity for falling for it. For those of you who don't want to waste your money I would avoid the same mistake.

It's very easy with this script to put a character in the wrong place, especially punctuation characters (semi-colon, etc.). I've done it myself many times, thought something wasn't working right, then found out later it was my own simple mistake...usually just a typo. I think I actually made that mistake with his mod when I first installed it, then caught my mistake and got it working (and I am using the 2.x.x versions...I've upgraded as new releases come out, but started with version 2.0). Maybe you just have something out of place or a variable called incorrectly, misspelled, etc.?
