SEO Settings question

Hi all....

Can someone tell me what "Enable URL Rewriting using mod_rewrite:" in SEO Settings in Admin Panel does ? At the moment it is set to "No".

Just upload it inside the main folder called 'admin' with an FTP program.

Why would you upload it to the admin folder? Shouldn't the rewrite go in the .htacess at root?

must be on admin folder too, otherwise admin/mods will not be able to view the profiles
