View Full Version : Ban members by IP needed to Stop Spammers

I have a had few people joining and spamming other members, I can suspend them and deleted these members but they can returned with different free email addy.

Need a ban button that bans the IP also in the profile management please?
Having valid email address filter would help out heaps, no free email accounts aloud?

Please look into this one... :confused:

I think it's a great idea too. I have a particular person
(no idea what sex they are) from a well known scamming
country. I get a bit tired of deleting their membership.

dont delete their membership suspend it so they cannot use the same email address to make a new acccount that should help minise the problem but they will always be able to make a new email address via freemail accounts like GMail and Yahoo

so it wont stop it but will help, I still think this post will help tackle the problem all together if it kicks off

Tried the suspend, but this doesn't stop them with a different email account and also leaves all the spam messeges in all members inbox's which is not good.
Only way to delete all msg's is to delete the member that has spammed!
Need a ban IP button.

In the meantime, you can ban IPs from your cPanel.

There actually is a Spammers module you can add to osDate that will search sent messages for certain keywords.

Do a search for Spammers and you will find it.

Also, for the time being, you can disallow IP addresses in your .htaccess file:

I like it I like it :)
Spammers hack works great.. I also added the words yahoo, hotmail, @ , to look for, this finds people sending there emails to others lol
