Hi, I've just bought the RSS2 script. I am not the most computer savvy person.I have uploaded the folder RSS_1 to my Public HTML folder on the server which is PHP enabled. Following the instructions I have copied the index.html file into my ES web page but all that is displaying is a blank white box.

The RSS feed is displaying fine on the file url in my control panel. If anyone could tell me where I am going wrong it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

OK, looking through the replies to the other posts, I have taken the files from the rss folder and uploaded them to the public html folder where my easy site is. I then launch my site and the homepage isn't my homepage anymore but the RSS newsfeed flash applet.

I then uploaded them (rss files) to the public html/manage folder and type in mysite/manage and I get the rss newsfeed flash applet displaying.

So my question is, is the server reading the rss/index.html file as the default website page. Well it must be , so does the rss/index.html need renaming or altering in some way.

By default all servers look for htm or html files or both so yes it was reading the applet html file. I'm not sure if your just creating a link in easysite for this or if you want to put this in easysite or what your plans are but yes again this was reading your html file for the applet. So I guess not knowing what you had in mind if you don't have an index1.html you could rename it to that and then it could still be in the root of the web. I myself haven't tried to add an applet to easysite so not sure how it would work. I would think you would need to use add this object code for the swf file in easysite but not sure fully how easysite works to say this would be that easy.

Thanks for taking the time to reply klj2000.

I want to put this rss applet in my easy site web page. I have virtually zero knowlege of the sort of coding required to alter these files. In fact it's a miracle that I ever got a website up and running ;-).

You say to use add this object code to the swf file. Would you be able to explain that in greater detail?

Well again I'm not sure it's as easy as copy and paste. I would need to install easysite to try it but in the html file of the rss folder you will see some code from this html file to add to easysite. I'm guessing your making a new page or something to display this applet so I hope I'm at least going in the right direction. Now again if this is what your doing again I don't know if this will work or not but you do need the object code that is in this html file added into easysites page you want this to display at. You will also want to extract the files from the rss folder and place them in the root folder if easysite. Now if easysite will take this code then you still need to edit a path from where this page is at to where the xml file is so it can then run. Again I don't really know enough about easysite to know if this is how you could do it or not. I myself would have to play with it a bit. What you might also do is post this in the easysite forum area and see if there is already someone who has done this and my be able to help you with this a bit better sence I'm only guessing at this point.

Thanks again klj2000, I think I have a better understanding of the situation now. I suppose I assumed (incorrectly) that the rss applet would work seamlessly with easy site as it is sold alongside the site software.

But things in life are rarely that easy as I keep finding out with website building and maintenance. I will follow your advice and post a request in the easy site forum.;-)
